Introducing ‘configurability’ to configuration

Recognizing this FPGA design security issue, Arria® 10 SoCs introduce the industryunique capability for user-selected boot order. This method allows specifc
applications, or confguration loads of the Arria 10 SoC, to select whether the
FPGA design or HPS system application confgures frst, and whether confguration
control of the second system is managed by the frst. This scheme gives the SoC
designer a flexible, frst order degree of control over the Arria 10 SoC confguration
parameters.
Intel Stratix 10 FPGAs and SoCs, built on Intel’s 14 nm Tri-Gate transistor
technology, (1) offer the next dimension of flexibility and user-selected confguration
control with the Secure Device Manager (SDM). The SDM is a microprocessor
block, available in all densities and variants of Intel Stratix 10 FPGAs and SoCs,
that provides a robust, secure, and fully authenticated confguration scheme.
Additionally, it allows users to customize device confguration. Other advantages
include confguration time, responses to single-event upsets, reactive zeroization
of data as a security response, key management and update, and providing feld
upgrades. This combination of features and flexibility in the Intel Stratix 10 SDM
provide best-in-class security to protect sensitive intellectual
property (IP) and data in both FPGA and SoC devices.
